Do you notice it?

I’ll be honest, by the time I get to January, I’m ready to start fresh.

I love the holidays, with all the lights and decorations, anticipation of holiday traditions, the look of delight when a loved one opens a carefully selected gift, tasty treats and indulgences, holiday concerts and movies, and most especially time with loved ones.

But come January, I’m ready for a reset. An opportunity to reaffirm my commitments to what’s most important in my life and in my business. To get back into the habits I know will support who I want to be, and perhaps even start some new ones. To set goals for myself and how I want to show up in my life.

This year, I’m finding inspiration in an unlikely place. Something that’s almost imperceptible, something that’s easy not to notice.

I wonder if you’re noticing it, too.

Today, January 8th, here in Colorado we have 10 minutes more of daylight than we did on the winter solstice, just 2 and a half weeks ago.

Just 10 more minutes.

It might not seem like much.

And in some ways it’s not.

But it’s enough that I’m already starting to notice.

Just that little bit of daylight later into the evening.

That sense that we’re beginning to emerge from the darkness.

And soon enough, those 10 minutes will become an hour, and then two, and by the time we get to the summer solstice in June, we’ll have gained over 5 and a half hours of daylight!

It gives me hope.

Hope that a little change I make now, perhaps one that’s almost imperceptible, will make a big change down the road.

A small shift can add up to a big difference, given enough time.

If you’re feeling this shift, too, I encourage you to consider:

  • What’s one little thing you can start doing to make progress towards something important?

  • What’s one little thing you can stop doing, something so small you might not even notice?

  • What’s one little thing you can keep doing, that will make an impact down the road, even if you don’t see it yet?

What’s your one thing?

Will you send me a message and share?

If you do, I’ll share mine with you.
