Halfway Day
Here’s a little overlooked fact for you.
Today marks exactly halfway through the year. It’s Halfway Day.
How are you celebrating?
Ok, so most of us don’t have Halfway Day marked on the calendar.
But perhaps we should.
January is filled with New Year’s Resolutions, annual goal setting, and new habits.
September brings “back to school” enthusiasm, a renewed commitment after a summer away.
And December is when we celebrate the year’s highlights, reveling in all that came to pass.
But in July, we’re in summer mode, perhaps making plans for a holiday weekend, often setting aside any big aspirations for the year in favor of relaxation and a slower pace.
And yet, this is a perfect time to consider how the year is going, celebrate what is going well, and make plans to adjust when we find ourselves a little (or a lot) off course.
Perhaps we’ve learned something new that shifts our priorities, our goals, or our approach.
Maybe we’ve realized we’ve made such great progress, it’s time to set our sights on new horizons. Reach for new goals, create new habits, prioritize other values.
Or perhaps we realize that we need more scaffolding around ourselves if we want to achieve the transformation we’re hoping for. Different systems to stick with our habits, new accountability structures to ensure consistent progress, or a renewed focus on something we said was important but our actions have said otherwise.
This brings me back to my original question.
How are you celebrating Halfway Day?
